Sue (and crew) at BLUE

Sue sings....sooo niceOur good friend, and oft-times musical cohort, Susan Young gave a great performance and session-after at Blue in Portland last night.

Sue nicely built the momentum during the evening, starting a capella, playing some tunes with Chris Stevens, and then moving to songs (with yours truly and then Michel Jenneau) and more tunes, with most of Boghat (to be fair.. Jamie wasn’t there).  Sue and Junior rock

She brought it around full circle to end with a pair of a capella songs.  The crowd, which happened to include Paddy Keenan, loved it.

We had a great session afterward, where, for a few fleeting moments, we all saw ‘another side of Tom Rota.’   Put the cash in a plain brown envelope, Tom.

Terry Weir…up from County Wakefield

Terrance WeirWe had a special treat on April 4, when Terry Weir joined us to fill in for the roving Peter Hale.

Terry helps us with some tunesAs he’s known to do, Terry brought a great voice and collection of songs and tunes, and his touch and tone on the mandolin, guitar, and fiddle were appreciated by all.

We get to his session at  Harrington’s Pub in Wakefield, MA when we can, and we all enjoy it when we connect ‘across the counties’ like this.

Saturday Nights…

Pete Heats Up the RhythmSpecial things can happen on Saturday nights  in McM’s Pub.  While we do have limited space at our table for musicians and singers – we make the best use of it, and we’ve been known to squeeze in a good group of players and singers – raising the roof a bit.

As Peter Hale has posted, we had an especially fun Saturday night session recently – and captured some sound clips.

Please drop in – to sing along – play some tunes – or just to listen a bit –  and help us make another great Saturday happen.

Thursday Nights at McM’s

The tunes, songs, and fun are ongoing… every Thursday night at McMenemy’s in Portsmouth.  We have enjoyed a long stand there…from back in the days when it was McNotMcMenemy’s… and we like the way that Thursday nights usually shape up – a little quieter than Saturday’s  – but with an intimacy and fun-with-friends atmosphere that’s easy to like.

Please drop by, with some songs or tunes, or just to kick back and listen.McMenemy's

The restaurant and pub will be in high gear all day Tuesday, the 17th.

We’ll be playing from 4PM onward until at least 11PM.

We’ll have our usual song and tune repertoire, and some extra surprises from the Clancy Brothers  and other favorites.  Pete has at least one special surprise up his sleeve.

Hoping you can join the fun.
