Emily is Back!

Emily is Back!We were all so happy – pleasantly surprised – to see Emily Force and Fred drop into McM’s last night. Emily was beaming a good bit of the time, it being her first time out since her surgery on Feb 2.   She’s more or less off of the pain killers, and doing allright – dealing with discomfort, and wanting the stiches out – but dealing with that on her own.

We were especially happy to see that a good pint was on the list of things OK. It won’t be long before we’ll have her back to singing again.

It was a boost for all of us. We’ ve been following the ordeal that she and Fred, and the family  have been through. I’d say the signs we saw last night say they are on the right side of it now.

New: Trad Night at Johnny D’s

Johnny D'sIt’s worth noting that one of my favorite spots to see live music in the Boston area, Johnny D’s in Davis Square, Somerville, has a new “Tuesday Trad Night” starting next month.  The schedule opens with Malinky, the Scottish band that played at the Elysium Arts Folk Club in Rollingsford, NH recently…and the band where Dave got “Follow the Heron Home.”

If you have a chance to check them out, it would be a great way to support trad music at a great spot.

Oh, and the Sunday jazz brunch at Johnny D’s rocks as well!

How do you find McMenemy’s?

McMenemy'sIn a few words …we find it great. Everyone marvels at the transformation that has happened in the Dining Room and the Pub atmosphere and decor – and the food is getting excellent reviews. Check out the menu.

St. Patrick’s Events at Kelley’s Row

Kelley's RowBuilding on last year’s success, òran mór takes the stage just a bit after noon.  Kelley’s Row is the heart of County Dover and the Irish tradition on this special day. We loved the enthusiastic audience last year, and we look forward to another good party.

We’ll be playing a ‘get ready’ party there on Sunday, March 15th  — now there’s a way to get a real running start on the marathon week!

Susan Young, our good friend and super Irish singer and player, will join us at noon on the 17th – so you’ll get an added treat. Expect some very special vocals, and Sue’s melodic and driving drum.

Chris Vaughan sings – Freedom rings

As he’s known to do, Chris got the place going on Saturday night.  This one puts a bit of the raw back into ‘raw energy’ – but it gives you a bit of a feel for the fun the crowd was having.
