Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day

Hey all,

Just wishing you a happy Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day today! We’ll be playing a party at the Portsmouth Yacht Club tonight, but there’s plenty of live music to enjoy…get out and hear some!

Ride On (for two weeks, anyway)

So last night, unplanned and on a complete whim, we launched into the classic “Ride On.” For those of you who were there, we hope you enjoyed it.

We’ve been rehearsing some other new material , which is coming together nicely. Those additions to the repertoire should be ready for prime time in two weeks…and that’s convenient timing.

Convenient because we won’t be playing next Monday night. The U.S. has its first World Cup match next Monday, so we’re giving the soccer fans all the space they need.

In the meantime, let us know what other songs you’d like to hear…and enjoy this version of “Ride On” from the author himself, Jimmy McCarthy.

Of course, we’ll keep the afternoon moving when we play your favorite Irish songs and tunes from 2 until 5 p.m. The whole day is sure to put you in an Irish spirit and make St. Patrick proud.

Opening for Derek Warfield & The Young Wolfe Tones

A long-time icon of Irish music will be coming back to the Seacoast next month, and once again we’ll be honored to open for him!

Derek Warfield & The Young Wolfe Tones will be performing at Ri Ra’s Irish Pub in Portsmouth on March 12. Known throughout the world for their quality presentation of Irish patriotic songs and traditional music, The Young Wolfe Tones feature some of the finest Irish musicians and singers from a younger generation, and combine them with the legendary Derek Warfield — singer, stage personality, composer, and historian of the music and song tradition. The response to this union has been fantastic.

Liam Murphy, the former National Editor of Hibernian Digest, for example, offers high praise indeed. “Derek has long been the best front man in the country. There is no performer that can move an audience with words and song with such natural ease. His talented young band ‘The Young Wolfe Tones’ are the best ballad band in Ireland and lends an extra dimension to Irish song, music and history.”

Needless to say, seeing them live is well worth it. We had the opportunity to open for Derek and crew last year, and it was a blast of a night.

We hope you’ll join us on Wednesday, March 12 to kick off the St. Patrick’s Day season with a great night of music.
